People & Operations Specialist  

Summary 

We are seeking a skilled and proactive People & Operations Specialist to support and manage key HR and people operations functions within our organization. This role plays an important part in recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, employee incidents, and employee development initiatives. 

The People & Operations Specialist will help ensure that people-focused strategies and operational processes align with company goals while fostering a productive, compliant, and positive workplace environment. This individual will also support communication of key policies, processes, and updates with department leaders across the organization. 

Responsibilities (include but not limited to) 

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition 

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring employees for open positions 

  • Build and maintain relationships with recruiting agencies, job boards, and local universities to attract top talent 

  • Coordinate and oversee onboarding to ensure new hires are successfully integrated into the organization 

Employee Relations & Support 

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related questions, concerns, and issues 

  • Support employee relations matters including conflict resolution, employee concerns, and exit interviews 

  • Help foster a positive workplace culture and strong communication between employees and management 

Performance Management & Employee Development 

  • Support administration of the company’s performance management process including goal setting, tracking, and performance reviews 

  • Partner with department leaders to identify training and development opportunities 

  • Assist with coordinating internal training programs and leadership development initiatives 

Compensation & Benefits 

  • Assist in administering compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitive and equitable offerings 

  • Provide support on salary structure, bonuses, and benefits communication 

  • Collaborate with the Accounting Manager to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance with compensation regulations 

Compliance & Policy Management 

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and company policies 

  • Assist with maintaining and updating the employee handbook and HR policies 

  • Track and report on key HR metrics such as turnover, engagement, and employee satisfaction 

Health & Safety 

  • Promote workplace safety and support compliance with health and safety regulations 

  • Assist employees with accessing health and wellness resources and programs 

HR Projects & Strategic Initiatives 

  • Contribute to HR initiatives including employee engagement, culture building, and organizational development projects 

  • Stay current with HR trends and best practices to support continuous improvement across the organization 

Communication with Department Leaders 

  • Support communication of key HR policies, updates, and organizational initiatives with department heads 

Experience & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 

  • 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources, People Operations, or related roles 

  • Knowledge of labor laws, HR best practices, and workplace compliance requirements 

  • Experience with HRIS systems, payroll platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Strong ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization 

  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and conflict resolution skills 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions / Physical requirements (if applicable)  

  • Primarily office-based work environment with occasional on-site presence across operational areas 

  • Standard office equipment usage (computer, phone, etc.) 

  • May require occasional evening or weekend work during hiring periods, events, or operational needs 

Language, Mathematical, and Reasoning Abilities 

Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities: 

  1. Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred) 

  1. Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions 

  1. Ability to address and solve problems involving maintenance and operational issues 

  1. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations 

  1. Sit, walk, and stand continuously. Bend, squat, crawl, and reach above shoulder level 

  1. Lift / carry 35 lbs. 

  1. Use dominant hand coordination for simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation  

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
