When is Atlantic Park Surf Opening?
Atlantic Park Surf construction crews are hard at work and making progress every week. We are in constant contact with the developer and will determine an opening timeline as soon as possible. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to receive updates!
How much does it cost?
Pricing for a 55-minute surf session will range from $90 to $161 depending on the wave level and season. There are seven different levels and price points. Pricing will change depending on season and special events.
How old do you have to be to surf?
Surfers must be at least eight years old in our public sessions and at least six years old in private sessions.
For experienced groms younger than eight, a parent or guardian may email booking@atlanticparksurf.com to request an exemption from the minimum age requirement. The email must state the minor’s name, age, and clear examples that accurately convey surfing ability. Photos or videos are helpful and may be deemed necessary for approval.
How many surfers will be in each session?
Lagoon capacity is set to give our guests the safest and most enjoyable experience. Each level has total capacity that ranges from 20 to 40 surfers in the lagoon. Surfers will have the opportunity to catch 10-15 waves on average during each session.
What technology is used to produce waves?
Our lagoon is powered by the 46-module Wavegarden Cove - the world’s leading surf technology. Visit wavegarden.com for more information.
How many waves will be in each session?
The patented Wavegarden Cove® technology offers a revolutionary development never seen before: up to 1000 perfect waves/hour similar to those in the ocean.
Actual wave counts are dependent on wave types. Larger waves require more time in between sets, and smaller waves require less time, for optimal lagoon and surf conditions.

How do vouchers work?
Atlantic Park Surf uses a voucher system giving you the option to purchase your ticket now, lock in pricing, and receive priority booking. Once we release our surf schedule, you will be able to redeem your vouchers and book individual sessions.
Are there any discounts for purchasing multiple sessions?

Is there a membership program available?

Will we be able to take surf lessons?
Absolutely! Atlantic Park Surf has partnered with legendary Virginia Beach surf shop, Wave Riding Vehicles, to offer surf lessons, equipment rentals, and merchandise! We are working closely with WRV and will announce the details as soon as they become available. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter and check the website for updates.
Can I bring my own surfboard?
You may bring your own surfboard or choose from a wide selection of rental boards through WRV. There will be no hardboards allowed in beginner sessions. Hand planes, paddleboards, swimming, and other nonsurfing activities are prohibited in the lagoon.
Will bodyboarding be allowed?
Yes! Bodyboarding will be allowed.
Will Atlantic Park Surf be open year-round?
Atlantic Park Surf will be open year-round. Anticipated closures will consist of scheduled maintenance periods and during times of inclement weather.
Will the lagoon be heated?
The Atlantic Park Surf lagoon temperature will be dependent on natural conditions. The lagoon will remain a refreshing temperature during Virginia Beach’s hot summers due to constant water movement paired with our coastal breeze. As the lagoon temperature cools, there will be wetsuits, boots, gloves, hoods, and hot showers available!
Will parking be available?
Visitors are encouraged to park in the Atlantic Park parking garages. Rates are consistent with other City of Viriginia Beach parking garages. To learn more about parking in the Resort Area, please visit https://pw.virginiabeach.gov/city-property/parking/resort-area-parking. Public entrances to the garages are located on Baltic Avenue between 19th Street and 20th Street and on 20th Street between Baltic Avenue and Pacific Avenue. Additional surface parking is available at 18th Street and Arctic Avenue. Limited street parking is available throughout the Atlantic Park development.
What else will be on-site?
Atlantic Park is a world-class entertainment district offering surfing, curated retail experiences, delectable cuisine, and live entertainment through The Dome.
