Facilities Specialist
Position Summary:
The Atlantic Park Surf Facilities Specialist oversees the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our proprietary wave machine and associated park facilities. This role focuses on engineering analysis, problem-solving, and system oversight, ensuring safe and reliable operations while applying specialized training received from the Wavegarden engineering team. This role combines technical expertise, independent judgment, and strategic planning with leadership in facilities operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Wavegarden Systems Oversight
Apply proprietary Wavegarden training to operate, monitor, and maintain wave generation systems.
Troubleshoot complex system issues, analyze performance data, and recommend improvements.
Plan preventative maintenance schedules and optimize operational efficiency.
Serve as the primary technical liaison for Wavegarden support, including communicating with the engineering team in Spain.
Engineering & Technical Problem-Solving
Exercise independent judgment to assess technical challenges and determine corrective actions.
Document technical procedures, system performance reports, and improvement recommendations.
Implement process enhancements and safety protocols to optimize machine functionality.
Facilities Coordination & Leadership
Oversee and coordinate facilities of maintenance tasks performed by non-exempt staff or contractors.
Prioritize work orders, schedule tasks, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Mentor and train facilities of team members in basic Wavegarden awareness and operational procedures, as appropriate.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all operations meet OSHA, internal safety, and regulatory standards.
Conduct system inspections and implement corrective action plans for any safety or operational concerns.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
Maintain accurate logs of system operations, maintenance activities, and incident reports.
Collaborate with Facilities Manager and other departments on operational planning and capital improvements.
Analyze facility performance metrics and provide actionable recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Proprietary Wavegarden training (from Spain) required; advanced technical aptitude essential.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with operating heavy equipment, power and hand tools safely.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems preferred.
Experience with facilities management, operations planning, or project coordination.
Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and technical decision-making.
