Sales Director
Position Summary
The Atlantic Park Surf Sales Director is a relationship-driven sales professional skilled in crafting and selling elevated, premium, and unforgettable experiences. This role focuses solely on Atlantic Park Surf, driving revenue by Selling private surf experiences, brand activations, and sponsorships at Atlantic Park Surf – North America’s first Wavegarden Cove surf lagoon and anchor attraction to the Atlantic Park entertainment district. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of sales experience, holds regional connections, and is eager to develop a sales strategy that cultivates Atlantic Park Surf into a leading destination in the surf, recreation, leisure, sports tourism and hospitality industries. At the core, the Atlantic Park Surf Sales Director understands what it takes to build a comprehensive sales program and fully execute.
Roles & Responsibilities
As Sales Director, you will oversee all private lagoon sales, brand activation, and sponsoship revenue for Atlantic Park Surf, including but not limited to:
Sales Strategy & Business Development
Develop and manage sales strategies for Atlantic Park Surf with a focus on Private Buyouts, Brand Activations, and Sponsorships.
Sell and coordinate private surf sessions and lagoon buyouts including hourly, daily, and multi-day programs.
Generate new business through outreach, including cold-calling, relationship-building, and event participation.
Identify and attend trade shows, networking events, city meetings, tourism events, and Resort Area Council meetings.
Conduct site tours and pitch premium experiences to corporate, social, and leisure clients.
Prepare proposals, contracts, BEOs, and handle end-to-end event execution.
Build and maintain CRM accuracy, lead pipelines, and revenue forecasting.
Monitor market trends and adjust strategies to ensure long-term success and profitability while preserving the boutique feel of the property.
Maintain proficiency in CRM and POS systems to manage prospecting, leads, booking, billing, revenue tracking, and execution.
Use benefit-oriented selling techniques to creatively upsell experiences for the benefit of both the guest and the property.
Prepare sales updates and look-ahead summaries for management meetings; track monthly and quarterly sales and event performance including budget vs. actuals.
Maintain effective CRM trace systems, client profiles, and essential sales records including VIPs, repeat guests, corporate partners, and brands.
Stay current on competitive offerings, rate structures, and industry trends.
Build and maintain preferred vendor lists to support event execution and departmental growth.
Education & Experience
Experienced in event, group, or destination sales — ideally within action sports, recreation, hospitality, or resort‑style environments.
Relationship‑driven professional who enjoys networking and cultivating repeat business.
Skilled in managing complex group bookings, large‑scale events, and full‑property buyouts.
Comfortable leading pre‑opening initiatives and shaping a new property’s sales identity.
Collaborative, organized, and motivated by creating meaningful guest experiences.
Passionate about the Virginia Beach lifestyle and community connections.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales and revenue goals.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with PMS, POS, and CRM systems required. Adobe Suite a plus.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. regularly.
Must be able to walk, stand, and move comfortably for up to eight (8) hours.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening, hearing ability, and visual acuity.
